Behavioral health assessment informs in-custody care
The jail uses the results of a behavioral health assessment to inform a person’s treatment and services while incarcerated.
Local Examples
Champaign County, IL Champaign County Sheriff's Office
- People who screen positive for mental illness or substance addiction are referred to an on-site clinician who determines whether they meet the criteria for a full assessment.
- If they meet the criteria, a full clinical behavioral health assessment is conducted by a qualified clinician in the jail and assessment results are used to inform in-custody care and connections to services upon release.
